Mindfulness -Key to Observation
1.About Mindfulness:
Mindfulness is a mindset or state of mind as i would like to call that revolves around the concept of ''Self Awareness'' i.e. knowing one's self, ones own thoughts, feelings, emotions, purpose, strengths ,weaknesses, the list goes on.
Its knowing:
'Where you are', ''When you are'', and 'Who you are'. in relation to the world around you at any given moment.
This introspection sense of understanding and knowing who you are would allow clarity for thought and singularity of purpose, being bagged down by cares, worries and self-doubt clouds the mind and robs you from your limited attention. But this something an individual should fix by themselves.
Being mindful of who and where you are sets your mind to naturally gather information about your environment which is essential for observation which then leads to deduction.
Now Self awareness is just the first step to begin with.
Remember earlier I mentioned Mindfulness as a state of mind,
Well...yes it is more than just a mindset of introspection.
Mindfulness is a sense of being present at the moment or living at the moment rather than dwelling in thoughts, It is to be
- Attentive to your environment and situation
- Aware and observing
- Ever-alert yet calm and sharp
2.Practicing Mindfulness:
Consider when you’re eating lunch while scrolling through your phone, and later, you don’t even remember how the food tasted and how much you have eaten and how long you took to complete your lunch. That’s mindlessness (acting without full awareness).
Which for the up coming post, I will explain the importance of Attention span and scrolling.
To prevent mindlessness we must incorporate mindfulness.
1.ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS AND ACT AT THE MOMENT.
So the next time you eat lunch try putting the phone aside for now and engage in conversations with your family or if alone just keep eating and you will soon be thinking and thoughts might pop in your mind as you eat. Much like meditation it keeps you in a empty mindful state allowing thoughts or ideas pop up in your head. And who knows some of those thoughts may be the very solution to your recent problem.
2.BE ALERT AND AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS.
Understand your surroundings and be alert (alert but relaxed as you don't want to be hypervigilant, your just aware)
when you walking to a location on the street you would look around to understand: how to leave and enter that place, what shops exist there, name of the place, or for danger "where to run''.
These noting down about things mentally is mindful observation.
3.DO MINDFUL ACTS
Mindfulness acts like mediation has tremendous benefits,if your curious search it up on google or any on the benefits of meditation as I would not be listing all of its benefits here.(I recommend searching it up)
In simple words meditation is an exercise of mindful controlled breathing. To mediate here as a deductionist it is not necessary that you would be a monk unless you want to, but here in deduction, meditation is very simple and could be adapted.
First find a comforting posture or position to meditate, you could lay on the bed facing upwards and close your eyes and control your breathing, you could also do it while sitting in a chair, Position doesn't really matter and as it should be adaptable so you could meditate anywhere any time.
Mediation:
After finding a position, close your eyes and take a deep breath and exhale slowly and feeling the air moving through your nose into your lungs. Repeat this as much as you like with 5-10 minutes minimum.
And When thoughts pop up say to yourself in your head 'pass' or 'go away' and refocus on breathing. Because in mediation your objective is only to focus on breathing not thoughts.
Its that simple and benefitting but most people would take it granted.
Personally I meditate while drinking tea, meaning I would be mindful as i drink tea. Which i would call it idk maybe.... Mindful tea drinking. I will post about it soon as i felt like maybe you tea lovers might like this idea.
